  • Important Note Regarding the MIT App Inventor Support for the FIRST Tech Challenge

    Hi Folks,

FIRST will continue to support the FTC MIT App Inventor development software for the 2017-2018 season (Relic Recovery). However, FIRST will discontinue support for the FTC MIT App Inventor after the 2017-2018 season. Whether your are a new programmer, or a veteran App Inventor user, FIRST strongly recommends that for the 2017-2018 competition season, you switch from the App Inventor to the FTC Blocks Programming Tool.

The FTC Blocks Programming Tool uses Google's Blockly visual programming language and it is very similar to the MIT App Inventor. The FTC Blocks Programming Tool has the advantage of being much easier to use (it does not require any special software to be installed on your laptop) and it supports the majority of the FTC programming features, including advanced functions like sensor use and Vuforia computer vision technology.

Details on how to use the FTC Blocks Programming Tool can be found at the FIRST Tech Challenge's online Control System wiki:

    Sincerely,

    Tom
