  • Center Field Structure (CFS) positioning relative to Ramps

Our team has seen multiple videos showing the location and positioning of the CFS with mismatched color facings considering backboards (holding IR Beacons) and kickstand color. For example, the official video shows that the CFS backboard (not kickstand) blue color is in fact facing the red ramp. Is is possible then that the structure rotates away from your own alliance colors? However, in another video, the structure is facing your alliance color. We would like to know which backboard placement method is correct and to be expected at competition; or is the CFS location going to be completely arbitrary and only centered on the field?

Ignore the videos and read the rules.

The FTC Q&A Trumps the Manual which trumps the videos

Specifically, page 19 of the Field Assembly Guide Rev 1.5 shows the orientations of the 3 rotations. Essentially, an alliance's kickstand is either facing their parking zone (rotation #1), their ramp/platform corner (rotation #2), or the field perimeter wall to their right (rotation #3). And thus an alliance's center goal is either facing the field perimeter wall to their left (rotation #1), the corner with the opposing alliances rolling goals (rotation #2), or their parking zone (rotation #3).

And a detail regarding rotation #2 was addressed in the Q&A forum here:

because page 19 of the Field Assembly Guide Rev 1.5 shows rotation #2 being not 45 degrees from the other two rotations but the last page of the newest revision (1.5) of the same document implies that rotation #2 is 45 degrees from the other two. The posting above says that rotation #2 should be 45 degrees from the other two.
