Your one-size-fits-all email to invited students and invited adults is confusing and insufficient. Please write a student-only version. The subject should be "invitation to join FIRST team" rather than "invited to be a contact". Eliminate the intimidating paragraphs about background checks. Please provide step-by-step instructions for students and their parents so that they may complete the consent process. I really don't want to have to use paper forms.

Thanks for your post, NEOFTC!
I'll pass along your feedback to our IT department for their consideration. There is a step by step resource for the system that should help a little - you can find it here:
FIRST is a global robotics community preparing young people for the future and the world’s leading youth-serving nonprofit advancing STEM education.
Thank you!

I believe these instructions are out of date. The team primary contact no longer sends the email to the parent. The process starts with the student this year. What we are confused about is how does the student initiate the process of getting the parent's consent. That is not covered in this document.

I'm glad I'm not the only one having issues. I thought the contact jargon seemed weird and half the time the student had to look up the team number in my email and the other half said they didn't need to, I still have some who haven't gotten their parent consent straightened out. The whole process could use a bit of tweaking.
