  • Rover Ruckus - Lander Dimensions not in Game Rules Pt2

    While perusing Part 2 of the Rover Ruckus game rules I noted that the actual dimensions of the lander are not detailed anywhere, particularly how high the bottom & top of the lander is, and how far off the ground the latching support bracket is. Can we get an update to the Appendices to lay this data out?

    Additionally, the Rover Ruckus DIY Game Element Guide links to last season's DIY instructions. Is there an updated DIY guide for this season that can be linked?

    How is the robot actually supposed to use the information scanned on the navigation targets? When the robot scans the picture, does it tell the robot where to go automatically? How does this work?

      At the kickoff meeting today in San Diego's Balboa Park, they had a field set up. I assume it was an accurate representation of what we'll have at tournaments.

      The bottom of the lander (suspended above the floor by the legs) was approx. 12 inches above the floor, give or take an inch. Which means that if your robot is 15 inches tall, it won't fit underneath. I didn't have a chance to measure precisely, but by eyeball that's a pretty good measurement.

      And where the legs touched the ground, two adjacent feet were approx. 3-1/2 feet apart. At least they looked like more then 3 feet and less than 4 feet.

            So basically Vuforia can find your x, y and z relative to the pictures. You will have to program what your robot does once it finds that data, however, there are many wonderful tutorials online .

              Location of latch: see Game Manual Part 2, p. 30, Fig. B4. The bottom of the latch is 22" off the floor.

                Game Manual Part 2, p. 31, Fig. B5. this explains the location of the targets. (1. Front wall is audience facing, 2. Red alliance wall is right side ETC).
                Please clarify: After reading the targets, what do you do with the information in autonomous mode? what is the use of these navigation targets in the game?

                  The navigation targets are, as the name suggests, used for navigation. Vuforia can use the camera on the RC phone to determine the location of the phone relative to the target and therefore relative to the field. Unlike last year, when the targets in front of each balancing stone contained information about which column to place the glyph in, these targets only tell you the location of the robot on the field.

                    Thanks, RaymondBowman99.Can you provide a link to some of the new tutorials for using Vuforia for navigation.All my links are for last year's use of Vuforia to figure out glyph placing.
