How many students are on your team, and what role does each student member play?

  • #2
I guess we're getting the ball rolling...

I'm in a team of about ten. We're still designating roles. We do know who our programmer is though. It's one of the two veteran members.

we have three teams of six

the only role that we distinguish is the programmer and that is because they are the only one who knows robot c/nxg (veterans or prior knowledge )

We have 8. Everyone builds and works on the design. we have 3 people who program as well. everything else we share. its easier for us to share then divide roles as we have a larger knowledge base and more design ideas.

We claim to be the smallest team in the competition this year (feel free to challenge that! :P), as it consists of just two people: a designer and programmer (right now, it's the programmer posting). Although we've formally split our roles, more often than not, we take part in the other person's task. A few of our robot's leading design choices were made by me; likewise, the other member has done some notable programming work.

I'm the photographer and keeper of the engineering notebook, as well as the public relations guy; while my friend does most of the actual construction work and testing of various kinds. We agree that it's an even split, as far as work hours go.

Two programmers, 6-8 builders. Everyone writes in the engineering notebook. One of the builders is a drive team member. In general, the only definite roles are the programmers and the drive team.

                    -Safety officer (Manic Panic)
                    -Trainee programmer (Smarties)
                    -Internet stuffs (French Fries) (me)

We also have Schwobs, Freckle Face, and BreadstiX.

We are a small team compared to others. We only have 3 people right now, maybe 4.. This year we are all doing the programming of the robot, (Im the lead programmer and builder right now), because this is my last year. Right now, one is learning RobotC, and the other is trying out labview. (I use RobotC). Building wise, this year we are trying a new way of building the robot, with a CAD design first, and then building the robot, which as of right now is working out better than our strategy in the past. We have over half of the robot built and prototypes built and working.

We have three: head builder, head programmer (posting), and head driver. We all pitch in for building to some degree, we all test the robot, we all took turns driving at a scrimmage (the third member acted as "coach"), and we all write in the notebook.
