  • Fixing Tetrix Max Torquenado motor enconder

    Hi all,

Is there any way to fix Tetrix Max Torquenado motor encoders? We have several motors that work well, but the encoders seem to be fried. Is that something that can be fixed?

I suggest you confirm that the encoder cables are correct for that motor. Some robotics teams own a mixture of motors and cables.

Other cables do fit into the Torquenado encoder port, but with a different pinout arrangement. Look closely to see markings for Vcc, Ground, Channel A, Channel B.

You want the grey-black-red cable, not the yellow-red-green-black cable (for NeveRest motors).

And, the adapter from that grey cable to the REV Hub must be correct:

It's not a wiring problem. We only use Tetrix Max Torquenado motors. We just had to change another motor after a light session of autonomous code testing. The encoder has a burnt smell. We disassembled one of the encoders yesterday and found that there is a shorted cap. But we are unable to determine the cap size. We could not find a schematic for the encoder, so the only way to determine the size is to desolder a new capacitor and measuring it... Something we can't do because we burnt through our last motor.
