We are trying to switch from Blocks programing to OnBot Java but none of the examples are available. Do we first have to download android studio?

Can you please post the Robot Controller logs after completely restarting the RC app (i.e. force stop the app, before you restart it)?

All of the examples are available. When you click the + to add a new Java file there's a dropdown that lets you pick the sample to base it on. It takes the sample java file and renames both the file itself and the class to whatever name you pick.
