Duplicate Questions - Robot Inspection and Build Rules

We are wondering if NXT motors are legal this year. We looked in the game manual but were still unsure.

    Thanks!

Is Servo HSR-2645CR from Servo City allowed? I don't believe that it is modified.

Duplicate Questions - Robot Inspection and Build Rules

        Hello,

We have discovered that there is only one I2C address for the color sensor on the Core Device Interface module which makes it so that we are only able to connect one I2C sensor to the robot per Core Device Interface module. This is severely limiting since we already have some I2C sensors. In order to bypass this limitation, we will either have to use a device such as an Arduino to route inputs from multiple sensors to the robot or use a multiplexer from Adafruit. Would either of these devices be permitted for the purpose of allowing our existing I2C sensors to interface with the robot?

        Thanks,

we wanted to know if the following motors were legal for our robot.

Duplicate Questions - Robot Inspection and Build Rules

We have found a REV Smart Robot Servo Programmer (am- 3218) to go along with some REV servos. Is the controller an illegal part or can we use it?
Here is the link to the item on AndyMark: http://www.andymark.com/product-p/am-3218.htm
We think that we can use it, given the fact that it's under FTC parts, but we just wanted to be sure.
              Thanks in advance!

We would like to use simple switches (http://tinyurl.com/ptverhm) as switches. We are able to get a switch working with the digital IO port on the sensor module, but there isn't a pull-up resistor in the module, so we had to add our own. Is this allowed?

We would like to have a strip of LEDs on our robot for decoration.

                  According to rule <RE03> :
"Approved light sources may include an internal (as supplied by the manufacturer) battery. Additional
approved power sources are the use of a power port on the Core Power Distribution Module, a motor control
port on the Core Motor Controller Module, or a motor controller port on the Legacy HiTechnic
                  Motor Controller. "

We do not want to power it from our main battery through the Core Power Distribution Module because of the drain it would cause on the battery. Last year we hooked the lights to a separate 9v battery. The rule says that the lights may be powered by an internal (as supplied by the manufacturer) battery. These lights do not have one and are meant to be powered by a separate battery. We would like to confirm that this is still legal.

                    Hello,

Our team has a rack and pinion system on our robot. The pinion is controlled by a DC Motor. When the rack is all the way in, it pushes a touch sensor to let us know it is all the way. Are we allowed to move the rack in until it presses the touch sensor during the autonomous initialization?

                    Thanks,

We have purchased a strip of LEDs that we wish to put on our robot. These would serve no purpose other than decoration. We would like to run them off of a separate 9v battery instead of through the power module to prevent the resulting drain on our main battery.

According to rule <RE03>: "Approved light sources may include an internal (as supplied by the manufacturer) battery. Additional approved power sources are the use of a power port on the Core Power Distribution Module, a motor control port on the Core Motor Controller Module, or a motor controller port on the Legacy HiTechnic Motor Controller."

The lights do not include a specific battery "as supplied by the manufacturer" and are meant to be attached to an external battery. Would we be allowed, as in previous years, to do this?

Hello, we posted a question roughly 2 weeks ago about the legality of using AM NeveRest 40 motors with Legacy systems. Another team (2015 World champions) suggested that it was illegal. Please clarify; we believe our question may have been lost.

                            Hello,

We are looking at purchasing this gearbox from servocity-https://www.servocity.com/html/spg785a-5_0_servo_gearbox.html#.VtuWIfA76K0. In the description it states that the servo is stock and unmodified in any way, but we want to be sure before we order. Thank you
